Conduit shall have adequate strengths. Conduit according to their types, when compressed either during or installation, shall show no cracks and shall not be deformed to such an extant that introduction of the cables become difficult, or that the installed conductors or cables are likely to be damaged while being drawn in. The instrument used for this property of the conduit is known as compression tester for conduit pipe.
The Asian Compression Tester for Conduit made on the rigid metallic base plate. There are two parallel plates, the lower plate attached to the coil compression spring and the upper plate have a metallic block of specified size and space. There is a screw and nut mechanism which moves the upper movable plate. The sample is kept on the lower plate at mid position parallel to the long side of the lower plate. And than revolving the screw so that they metal block compress the conduit. The load is determined by measuring the deflection of the compression spring. A calibration chart is provided to indicate the loads against various values of deflection of the spring. Measurement of the deflection of the spring is carried out with the help of a strip scale. Deflection of the conduit under test, under load and release of the load are indicated on a dial indicator.
The tester is finished is blue painting and bright chrome plating to give it a corrosion resistant finish.
